FT Chapter 16 (ABCs)

We need to get some help to do our work.  Sometimes, we need others to teach us so that we can than spread the news that we are supposed to do.  Lucia needed help to spread the message of Fatima and Our Lady told her to get an education.  While, Lucia did just that, she learned to read and write and this allowed her to communicate about what Our Lady said.  Lucia teaches us in the sufferings that she endured.

Lucia made the choice to become Sister Lucia.  She first entered the Dorothean Sisters, but later on she was given permission to join the Discalced Carmelites (Fatima for Today, 182). Since Sister Lucia was able to write, she was able to answer questions about the Fatima apparitions: she wrote six memoirs detailing different aspects of what happened at Fatima and about the seers (Fatima for Today, 183).  These were very helpful since they gave information that is not found elsewhere.  (Thank God she got her education and followed what Our Lady asked her to do).

Sr. Lucia wrote about the Third Secret which was given to the Bishop in charge of the area that included Fatima (Fatima for Today, 187).  Before the Bishop da Silva of Leiria died, he sent the third secret to Rome and it was placed in the secret archives of the Vatican so that the Pope could open it (Fatima for Today, 187).  It is interesting that the Popes didn’t want to reveal the message of the Third Secret.  (I don’t blame them since the Pope is killed in the apparition).  Although there was a difference in the vision and what happened to Pope John Paul II because he was not killed as the vision had shown.  Why?  “By prayer and penance, the life of Pope John Paul II was spared” (Fatima for Today, 190).

Still, we need to heed the message of Fatima.  We need to pray our Rosaries daily for Peace, we need to do penance and reparation for sins.  We need to work on the Five First Saturdays devotion.   And we need to heed the call to monthly confession of our sins.
