It is HOLY WEEK!!!!!   Okay, so why do we call it Holy, and why does it last a week?   Well, it is a week of beautiful events that have shaken humanity to its core.  This week changes everything!!!  At least that is what we believe as Christians.  This is a very, very, very, very important week, and as Catholics who believe in Christ we should make it that way.  It is a holy week, so we give up what is not bringing us closer to Jesus.  So this is a week to slow down, stop doing all the extra things.  I would suggest very strongly unplugging the television, not watching movies, cut down on the amount of time talking on the telephone. This is a week not to be focused at all on any entertainment.  Our entire focus should be on Jesus this week.  That is what we should be thinking about, eating, breathing Jesus.  This is a week to read the Passion Narratives of Jesus.  You can find them in Matthew 26:14– 27:66, Mark 14:1– 15:47, Luke 22:14– 23: 56 & John 18:1– 19:42.  They are to be our focus, this is a week to drop everything and to be with God.  The Mass and Service schedule for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday are in the bulletin else where.  We should do everything to make it to Thursday, Friday and Saturday!!!

This is not a time to make excuses like I do enough for Jesus, what did He do for us.  Ah, He died a very painful death so maybe we should be spending some more time in church this week.  We have a lot of excuses for not growing in our faith, lets not make this Holy Week another one of those weeks that is like any other week, it isn’t, and so we shouldn’t focus on it like other weeks.  It comes once a year and is here for us, to help us to get to Heaven.  It is for us to do reparation for our sins.  God gives us this week, and if it is His gift to us we should do all that we can to focus on what He is giving to us as food, to feed us spiritually.  This may be the last week that we can celebrate Holy Week, so we should use it wisely.  This is a week to build our foundation on the ROCK and not on sand.  Take this time and use it for the good of your soul!!!!!
