Part 2, Chapter 13
Throughout the day, many things can happen. These things can help us to pray. A beautiful sunrise can help us to lift up our hearts and praise God. There can be many things that happen that can be used to raise us up toward God. “Thus it is…that good thoughts and holy aspirations may be drawn from all that surrounds us in our ordinary life” (Introduction to the Devout Life, 55). Fr. Timothy Gallagher says in similar words that God can use different things that happen to us to be a springboard for contemplation. As the course of the day goes on, different things that we see, hear, touch can help us to raise up our hearts to God. We never know what it is going to be, but the important thing is that when it happens is to let ourselves be recollected on God (as long as this is a moment that we can take to do that).
