TC Day 28 (Incubator)

Day 28

Imagine this, we make a decision.  We decide that for 9 whole months we will live in an incubator.  That is the only place that we can go.  It will allow us to grow, but we are confined to that space.  This is where we will be all the time.  This is the choice we have made.

Our Lord, Jesus Christ, took on flesh at the Incarnation and chose to dwell in Mary’s womb for 9 months.  “The Incarnation is the first mystery of Jesus Christ; it is the most hidden; and it is the most exalted and the least known” (Preparation for Total Consecration, 102).  The Creator of the universe made this choice.  God took on a body and for 9 months He was in the incubator of Mary.  But Mary is not just a womb to be used or an incubator.  If this were so, than God would be using her and He never does that.  Rather, she is His Mother.  Jesus made the choice to come through her (remember He is God, He can come however He pleases).

Mary, the new Arc of the Covenant, carries in her womb the Law (The Ten Commandments), the Bread of life (Manna) and the High Priest (the Rod of Aaron).  (These, The Ten Commandments, Manna and the Rod of Aaron, were found in the Arc of the Covenant).  “We need her intervention to see or speak to [Jesus].  Here, ever responsive to the prayer of his Mother, Jesus unfailingly grants grace and mercy to all poor sinners” (Preparation for Total Consecration, 103).  It is true that we go through Mary to Jesus, because He went through Mary to become one of us.
