Tomorrow begins the “Preparation to Total Consecration to Jesus Christ through Mary According to St. Louis De Montfort.”

Here is a little bit of information to help us when we begin the work of the preparation.  Read pages 16 – 18 first, before starting on page 22 for Day One.  This will give us an idea where things are going.  It does give the option of only praying the Litany on the first day, I would suggest taking the time to do it daily during the first twelve days of the preparation.

The preparation is broken into four sections:

  1. Renunciation of the World (12 days)
  2. Knowledge of Self (7 days)
  3. Knowledge of Mary (7 days)
  4. Knowledge of Jesus Christ (7 days)

The preparation is moving us toward making the Total Consecration.  We have to remember that just because we make the preparation, doesn’t mean that we have to make the Total Consecration.  We will make the Total Consecration on a Feast of Mary, so in this case we are planning to do it on the Feast of the Visitation.

Each day of the preparation is broken up into:

Prayer, Scripture, writing of St. Louis de Montfort, Question (could be a resolution), another prayer, this is the basic parts of the daily preparation.  This part of it should be done in one sitting each day, if possible.  We should take our time with it, this is not a speed contest, it is about building a relationship.  Please let us take our time with this.  At the end of the day, before we go to bed there is a little night prayer to do.  It is simple, but it keeps us reflecting on the theme of the day.

A few suggestions: Use a highlighter or pen to show ourselves what we thought was truly important.  Write some notes each day in a journal.  This journal may be something that we want to turn back to throughout the day.  We do want to try to reflect and meditate on the theme of the day throughout the day.  Talk to others about it, and if you get anything out of the blog, read it.  Remember I will be writing on the day, the next day, so please do your readings and prayers prior to reading the blog.

May God bless us in growing in our love of God.
