Well the long awaited election is over.  And now we can get on to other things.  I bet most of us will not miss the political adds, whether they are in the yards of peoples’ homes, in the newspaper, in the mail, on tv or on the internet.  We are not going to miss the phone calls asking poll questions, and I could go on and on.  But I don’t want to drag on like this election season has.

It is great to be back, and let me tell you, my retreat was wonderful.  Thank you to one and all for your prayers for a beautiful retreat.  Know that I prayed for all of you as well.  Retreats, missions, times fixed on prayer are needed in all of our lives.  If we noticed one thing in this past election it would be how this country is becoming more and more divided.  I am at peace with the election because I know that God is in charge, and that we will get through this time.  When you have some time to spend praying, you realize that God is so AWESOME!!!  Think about this, God made us, He infused a soul into our bodies at the moment of conception.  He has given us a Guardian Angel to help lead us and protect us.  He died on a cross for us.  God showers us with so many graces and blessings.  He loves us beyond what we are ever able to love Him back.  God is our Creator, we are His creatures.  We are nothing compared to Him!!!  And yet, He loves us and keeps calling for you and me to be faithful to Him and to love Him back.  Even our desire for Him comes from Him.  I can’t thank God enough for all that He has done, and will continue to do, in my life.  The same is true for all of our lives.  So if we are depressed because of the election, turn to God and thank Him for the beauty of the person that He made of you.  Thank Him that you are alive in this time and place, because He made us to exist now and will give us all the graces we need to get to Heaven.  God loves us so, so much.  Thank Him and turn to Him, and please realize the election is over, and we will get through this next moment and the next after that by being centered on Jesus Christ.  He alone can save us and He alone can help us to have peace and joy.
