TC Day 17 (Weighed Down)

Day 17

Working out and getting exercise can be a good thing.  But we need to eat right, get enough sleep, and pray as well to help us to be able to work out properly.  When one of these things is out of whack, it makes physical exercise that much more difficult, now imagine that all of these are out of whack.  How would exercise be?  Probably like the picture above, and we might be really sore for days, and maybe on the floor not able to get up or worse passed out.

We are weak human beings.  We can only do what we can with the grace that God gives us.  Many times we stay up too late, eat the wrong things, avoid our prayer and exercise.  We squander many of the graces that God gives us.  “It is very difficult, considering our weakness and frailty, to keep the grace and treasures we have received from God” (Preparation for Total Consecration, 62).  We are weak, we know what we should do, but we do the things we know we shouldn’t.

Our weakness causes us to do things we know aren’t good for us.  We continue to look for pleasure in things that aren’t going to last.  “We carry this treasure…in fragile vessels, that is, in a corruptible body and in a weak and wavering soul which requires very little to depress and disturb it” (Preparation for Total Consecration, 62).  We can get weighed down by our weakness, but with God’s grace we can be strong and overcome our weaknesses.
