TC Day 22 (Mama’s Children)

Day 22

“As in the natural life a child must have a father and a mother, so in the supernatural life of grace a true child of the Church must have God for his Father and Mary for his mother” (Preparation for Total Consecration, 81).  We are given Mary as our Mother.  And she wants us, her children, to be faithful to the Father.  She desires this.  God has given her to us as our Mother.  We must honor and respect her.  St. Louis goes on to say, “If he prides himself on having God for his Father but does not give Mary the tender affection of a true child, he is an imposter and his father is the devil” (Preparation for Total Consecration, 81).  WOW, that is blunt, but it is so true!  We were given Mary to be our Mother by God the Father.  So if He did that for us, we like little children should then go to our Mother and ask her to lead and guide us.  What a beautiful, beautiful gift the Father has given to us.

“If anyone wishes to become a member of Jesus Christ, and consequently be filled with grace and truth, he must be formed in Mary through the grace of Jesus Christ, which she possesses with a fullness enabling her to communicate it abundantly to true members of Jesus Christ, her true children” (Preparation for Total Consecration, 81).  Mary can intercede for graces to be given to us.  She can give graces because what she does is according to the will of the Father.  She would never do anything contrary to the Father’s will.  She who is our Mother takes care of us her children with tender love.  She is our Mother and we should honor her that way!
