TC Day 29 (Perfect Obedience)

Day 29

Perfect, I went on to www.dictionary.com and looked up the word perfect.  It defined it as: “entirely without any flaws, defects, or shortcomings.”  We could use this as a definition of Jesus.  But we should add to it, since He is God, not creature.  We could add many things to this definition and yet this definition is perfect (I know, using the word to define the word is circular reasoning, but the pun was intended).  I was actually hoping to find a picture of Jesus next to the definition of perfect because that would be true, the one of Jesus found in the Temple will have to suffice.

It probably strikes us as strange that the God of the universe would be obedient to one of His creatures.  (Remember that His Mother is perfect too).  And not just for a few years, but for about 30 years.  That is a very long time.  “Consumed with the desire to give glory to God, his Father, and save the human race, he saw no better or shorter way to do so than by submitting completely to Mary” (Preparation for Total Consecration, 104).  Jesus had and has a perfect plan which involves His obedience to His creature, who is His Mother.   Jesus still honor and respects His Mother, He is still obedient to her (since she would never ask for anything that wasn’t according to the will of God).

St. Louis De Montfort says it so well, “He gave more glory to God, his Father, during all those years of submission and dependence than he would have given by spending them working miracles, preaching far and wide, and converting all mankind.  Otherwise he would have done these things” (Preparation for Total Consecration, 104).  This is because the Father, with the Son and the Holy Spirit has the only plan for salvation.  God’s plan is perfect and it involved Mary.  And Mary is still involved in the plan of salvation today, bringing us to her Son and interceding for us.  If Jesus was obedient to her, shouldn’t we be?
